OUR COMBAT STYLES

We practice 3 different combat styles, each with their own advantages. These different systems are designed to increase intensity or target areas, and elevate fighting skills. Click on the cards below to read more about each individual fighting system, or view the graphic below to compare the target systems and protection requirements for each style.

HUSCARL

Full Target Combat

Western, Eastern and Huscarl target systems are designed to either increase the fighting intensity or provide a more theatrical and historically appealing fighting display. While Huscarl is used exclusively for training and technique purposes, the other two have been adapted to display the use of varied weapons and body armor of the Viking age.

These fighting systems are not exclusive to our Boston chapter, or even the wider group of Jomsborg. These combat systems have spread globally, and many chapters of various groups around the world practice each style. Therefore, we are able to visit groups abroad and fight under the same regulations.

In the graphic below, one can compare the target zones across all three fighting systems we practice, both for cutting edge weapons and thrusting weapons.
